2022 was a year of special significance since it marked 20 years of Ramsar Declaration for the East Kolkata Wetlands as a Wetland of International Importance. It is also a very special year for SCOPE as it won the Bhagirath Prayas Samman for 2022 from the India Rivers Forum, a network of organisations (ATREE, IIHS, INTACH, People’s Science Institute, Toxics Link, Peace Institute, SOPPECOM, SANDRP, WWF-India, Veditum), who promote and encourage all those unsung heroes who work tirelessly to protect our rivers.
