- Livelihood Training and Implementation Programme – This is the story of our livelihood training and implementation programme, an experiment to empower and enable a predominantly scheduled tribe population by training them to scientifically grow locally bred layer poultry and ducks for their improved variety of eggs. This programme has been going through scientific training and poultry rearing stages (including vaccination) for over a year. We are learning the nitty-gritties of the logistics, strengths and pitfalls encountered in our initiative. We hope to continue our learning curve and complete the full cycle of this project, when the eggs start getting sold. The full economics of the project and the potential for its upscaling will then be adequately understood.
Our training and technical advisors in this experiment are the Sashya Shyamala Krishi Vigyan Kendra of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, who have been monitoring this project along with us. They say that our progress has been noteworthy and we should be able to hold on to what we are doing.
